FAQ - Tour Conditions

Tour price guarantee:

The tour price does not include airfare nor the visa you will need in your passport to enter China, and is subject to change without notice due to the unpredictability of currency rates and trip costs. However, your price for the tour will be locked and guaranteed the moment your deposit is received.

Booking and paying for transport to arrive in Shanghai:

Each trip participant is responsible for arriving on time for the tour in Shanghai. Typically this will require booking (and paying) for their own airplane ticket, unless someone is arriving via other transportation method (car, train, etc.). Since there must be a minimum number of 5 people signed up for the trip in order for the trip to proceed as scheduled, trip participants should not book any airplane tickets (or tickets for other types of transportation) until the trip has been confirmed in writing (via email) by the trip organizer that it has met the minimum number of people required to going forward as scheduled. Neither Tailor Made Shanghai nor the trip organizer are responsible for any financial or other type of compensation for any penalties (non-refundable ticket, etc.) for a trip participant who makes a booking for an airplane ticket (or other type of transportation) for a trip that is not confirmed in writing (via email) that it's going forward as scheduled.

Itineraries are subject to change:

China is full of surprises, and we need to be flexible enough to take advantage of whatever comes along so that we may provide you with the best possible tour. Uncompleted portions of the tour itinerary are not cause for refund.

Tour payments:

To reserve a seat on a Tailor Made Shanghai tour you must agree to these Tour Conditions and provide us with a deposit of $1,000 per person. Your final tour payment is due at least 30 days prior to the start of the tour, in one payment. Missing the final payment deadline may result in your being removed from the tour! If you sign up for the tour less than 60 days before its departure, the entire tour price must be paid at the same time, and the deposit portion is non-refundable after 7 days. (Tour deposit refunds are discussed below.)

Solo travelers and single supplements:

If you are traveling solo, you need not pay the mandatory single supplement often required by other tour companies. You will most likely room with another tour member of the same sex. If you wish to guarantee a private room, we offer a single supplement for an additional fee of $650. If a private room is not available when we receive your tour order, we will notify you immediately, and you will have the option to cancel your reservation. Please note that a single supplement guarantees a private room — not a larger or nicer room. Single supplements are refundable if cancelled at least 60 days prior to tour departure; those cancelled later will be forfeited.

Cancellations and refunds:

Your tour deposit of $1,000 is 100% refundable for 30 days from the date it is received, unless noted otherwise below. After 30 days your deposit becomes non-refundable, and will be forfeited should you decide to cancel your reservation. Deposits made 60–90 days before a tour departs become non-refundable on the final payment due date. If you book a tour less than 60 days before its departure date, the entire tour cost becomes non-refundable after 7 days.

If we cancel a tour you have reserved, the entire amount you have paid for the tour will be refunded to you within 30 days after the tour's cancellation.

Tour forms, obligations, and risks:

To travel on a tour, all tour members are required to sign and return a Liability Release and Waiver Agreement prior to the beginning of a tour.

Omitting important information, or altering the Liability Release and Waiver Agreement, will render it invalid, and could result in expulsion from a tour at your own expense.

Although we want everyone to have a good time, it sometimes happens that someone participating in a tour can misbehave or do things that are incompatible with the safety, comfort, or convenience of other members of the tour. In those circumstances we have the exclusive right and discretion to expel someone from a tour at any time.

Smoking policy:

No smoking or vaping is allowed on the bus, in the hotel, or where other tour members are present.

China visa:

You are 100% responsible for obtaining the China visa in your passport in order to enter and exit China. You must receive your passport back from the China embassy/consulate in time to make sure you arrive in Shanghai on the required day to begin the tour. While we will assist you in every way possible, Tailor Made Shanghai will not be responsible for any extra expense or inconveniences if you fail to obtain your visa in time to participate in the trip.
